Plot[]
When a demon starts killing innocents around the city, Derek asks Phoebe to work together so he can better understand what she and her sisters do. As the sisters confront the demon, they learn of a dangerous new threat. Meanwhile, Piper goes on a blind date and gets some unwanted help from a stranger.

- The appearance of Xavar is based on the demon Griff from the Angel episode "Rm w/a Vu".
- The sisters discover that a 'new power' is rising in the Underworld. Xavar remarks that the Underworld has not been sitting still while the sisters battled the hunters.
- The 'new power' vanquishes Xavar from the Underworld, similar to how the Source of All Evil vanquished Rex and Hannah in season 1.
- Charlie uses literary manipulation to scan the book, similar to Leo. Paige notes she never saw Leo use it, joking that he became lazy after getting married. Leo last used this ability in season 2.
- Derek reveals that while he hunted many witches, he only personally killed one, an evil witch who threatened a little girl.
